Nationals Vs. Cardinals 2019 NLCS Preview

Damn you know what I hate to say it because it sounds pompous and maybe a little cocky, but I am always right. Tonight one of the most storied franchises in baseball history, the St. Louis Cardinals, face off against the Dodger slayers themselves, the Washington Nationals in Game 1 of the NLCS is St. Louis. God y’all thought I was crazy thinking the Cards were gonna beat the Braves, but look at them now! The best young core in baseball couldn’t take the heat of Red October. Bye, bye Braves. Go cry all the way back to your teepees!

It all goes down tonight people Game 1 of the NLCS in St. Louis. In the regular season the Cards completely took it to the Nats winning 5 of 7 games. I am amazed with the way that St. Louis has been playing this postseason. Wainwright looked like the perennial Cy Young contender he once was in Game 3 after he tossed 7+ scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. A gem that was completely squandered by the unfocused and inconsistency of closer Carlos Martinez who blew the game in the 9th. Thankfully in Game 4 facing elimination, the best catcher of this generation showed why he is still the face of the franchise and walked it off in the 10th to force a winner take all Game 5. On Wednesday the St. Louis bats finally woke up and put up a historic 10 run first inning to take the series.

The Nats burned through their starting pitching in their NLDS matchup against the Dodgers and will not be able to pitch either of their studs Max Scherzer or Stephen Strasburg. So advantage in Game 1 goes to the Cards. The player who needs to have the biggest impact this series for the Cards to insure a trip to the World Series is Dexter Fowler. If Fowler can get on base in front of the absolutely RED HOT Paul Goldschmidt and Marcell Ozuna than that means runs. And runs mean wins. Ozuna has been absolutely electric for a guy who struggles to hit over .250 during a season, but big time players come up when they need to the most. This is going to the most exciting series of the postseason. Don’t sleep on the Nats led by MVP candidate Rendon, veteran slugger Zimmerman, and the young gun Juan Soto. If the Cardinals can steal a game from Strasburg or Sherzer than there is no doubt in my mind that they go to the World Series for the first time since 2013. My prediction is a gentleman’s sweep. Cards win it in 5. Don Chach out!
