Najee Harris seems very happy after signing with the Chargers. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he’s returning to his native California. Maybe it also has something to do with getting out of Pittsburgh.
The former Alabama product had his introductory press conference with the Chargers. He was very complimentary of the facilities in LA and really wanted to shade the Steelers at the same time.
“It’s a great weight room, first of all, the facility—it’s all great things, man,” Harris said Friday at his introductory press conference with the Chargers. “A lot of things that they provide here… It’s not like this everywhere. This is a special thing right here. It reminds me of college at Alabama, all the resources that they have. You all have a great thing going on here, because, man, it’s not like this everywhere. It’s not.”
If you watch the clip of that portion of the interview, you can tell how hard he’s smiling when he’s like “it’s not like this everywhere” in the sense that he wants to say more about the Steelers but will leave it at that.
By the way, Najee might not be totally lying here.
On this year’s NFL Players Association report cards, the Chargers ranked higher than the Steelers in pretty much every category.
The Steelers got a C+ in Nutritionist/Dietitian, Training Room, and Weight Room, a C- in Strength Coaches, and a D for Locker Room. The Steelers strength coach was also voted as the worst in the league.
Compare that to what the Chargers got which is a B+ for Nutritionist/Dietician, an A- for Training Room, A+ for Weight Room, and an A for Strength Coaches / Locker Room.
This year is going to say a lot. If the Steelers held Najee Harris back at all, we’re soon going to find out if that was really the case. The Chargers are a playoff team with a ready-made offensive line too. No excuses this year…
