You’re A Moron If You Reach For Anthony Richardson In Redraft Leagues

Jack did a post on this not too long ago, but I wanted to expand upon it. You are a complete and utter moron if you’re reaching for Anthony Richardson in redraft leagues. It’s really as simple as that.

Don’t be like Matthew Berry. If you actually watch college football, there is just no way Richardson finishes as a top 12 quarterback in fantasy. No chance.

I went over this in the Cheese post but I’ll reiterate it once again. Rookie quarterbacks pretty much never help you in fantasy. Kenny Pickett finished as QB28 last year. Trevor Lawrence finished as QB22 as a rookie. Joe Burrow finished as QB 18 on a points per game basis as a rookie.

Richardson who completed under 54% last year at Florida with a limited number of collegiate starts has virtually no chance to be a factor in fantasy year one. He’s not ready to play. Why are we going to sit here and pretend otherwise?

I keep hearing the pathway is Josh Allen who finished as QB18 as a rookie. I think you’re nuts if you think Richardson is as good as Allen. How the hell do you think Richardson is just going to blow past that day one? It’s truly insane.

Who scares you on the Colts? This isn’t some team that has a lot of pieces that can manage the mistakes of Richardson. Who scares you here? Alec Pierce? WTF are we talking about? What happens if and when Jonathan Taylor gets dealt? That’s not going to make the offense better.

The rushing here is also totally overstated. Richardson will be a factor on the ground but Sam Howell rushed for 174 more yards in their final seasons in college. This is not some alien that’s rushing for over 1,000 yards. It’s not going to be nearly good enough to push him into that QB1 conversation as a rookie.

Don’t be an idiot. I have no problem if you want to take a shot on Richardson in dynasty or keeper leagues, but the idea that he’s going to be a rock star in year one is comical. Just no shot it happens.
