MLB The Show 24 Cover Reveal Soon
San Diego Studios has announced the MLB The Show 24’s cover athlete will be revealed on Tuesday, Jan. 30. This will kick off the hype train for The Show 24, hopefully also revealing a roadmap for news on this year’s game. As of right now, everything remains a mystery, so let me throw my hat into the ring and predict who will grace this year’s cover.
Last year’s game saw Jazz Chisholm Jr. grace the cover, a surprising selection but Chisholm is a part of the new age of baseball. I believe SDS went with the up-and-coming Jazz Chisholm to afford Derek Jeter to be their Deluxe Edition cover athlete.
Many fans have pushed for superstars like Ronald Acuna Jr., Julio Rodriguez, and Mookie Betts to grace the cover of The Show 24. Although all would be great choices, and they all should become cover athletes one day. I believe this year’s cover athlete will be … another big name in baseball. Someone often overlooked even though they are one of the very best in the game. A top-2 player at his position and he’s not No. 2. Can you guess who it is yet?
Who will be The Show 24’s Cover Star?
I think MLB The 24 will have slugger Jose Ramirez as its cover star.
Ramirez checks a lot of the boxes SDS may be looking for in a cover athlete. He is arguably the best third baseman going into 2024, an accomplished superstar of the game and has a great reputation within baseball amongst his peers and fans alike. Though probably most important to his case is that he has a good relationship with San Diego Studios. Ramirez since his 2017 breakout season to 2023 has averaged .280, 28 home runs, 89 RBIs and 27 stolen bases per season, finishing in the top 10 in AL MVP voting six times with three Silver Slugger awards to his name.
During the 2022 season, Chisholm visited San Diego Studios to answer questions, sign some merchandise for SDS giveaways, and build his “real 99” personalized Diamond Dynasty card. Unknown to us at the time, but it was during that time when SDS did the cover athlete shoot with Chisholm for MLB The Show 23. Jose Ramirez had a similar type of appearance for SDS this past season, that has similarly vanished from the internet entirely. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Why Jose Ramirez?
Ramirez would make a great choice for a The Show cover athlete, especially with his stock in the baseball community and sports overall rising with his viral altercation with Tim Anderson last season. Besides that, Ramirez is one of the best the game of baseball has to offer and is a lock for the Hall of Fame when he retires. What else could you ask for from a candidate?
Now, could I be entirely wrong with my prediction? Yes, of course, I can, and I have little to go off of here. However, if I am right, it will be an absolute W on my part. Regardless, I anticipate we will have a clearer picture of MLB The Show 24 once the cover is revealed. Even if only by just a small margin. Let’s see what SDS has waiting in the wings.
