Vikings sign Isaiah Rodgers to two-year deal

The Minnesota Vikings have signed cornerback Isaiah Rodgers to a two-year, $15 million deal, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported Monday.

Rodgers, 27, was a former sixth-round pick for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent his first three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before being suspended for the 2023 NFL Season due to a gambling scandal.

Upon signing with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, Rodgers tallied 26 tackles–19 solo–with four pass deflections in 15 games (three starts). He only played in 36 percent of the team’s defensive snaps last year and hasn’t played in more than 48 percent of his team’s snaps in his career.

Should Byron Murphy, one of the top cornerbacks on the market, sign elsewhere, Rodgers should add depth to that room. The Vikings need far more than just Rodgers, though the cornerback market is quickly dwindling with D.J. Reed, Paulson Adebo and Jourdan Lewis, among others, off the board.

Rodgers projects to be a slot corner with special teams upside, in a perfect world. Brian Flores loves versatility, so we will see what he has planned for the 5-foot-10 corner who’s been productive in a limited role over his five-year career.
