Is The Mind The Game Pod Over Now That JJ Redick Got The Lakers Job?

JJ Redick and LeBron James started the Mind the Game pod back in March. Now that Redick is the head coach of the Lakers, does this mean the podcast is over?

While we still haven’t heard from Redick regarding his plans with the media company he founded, it’s hard to imagine this podcast continuing. Frankly, the idea that a head coach and a top player host a podcast together is cringy in itself to think about.

Brian Windhorst already came out and said that Redick probably would make more money had he just stayed in the media realm. That more than anything probably describes the desire the former Duke guard had to coach.

Who knows what’s going to happen with the Old Man and the 3 YouTube channel. He does have other media personalties included in that platform. Maybe the other crew like the Dunker Spot guys will continue hosting content on that platform in the mean time.

More than anything, this is the part that really needs to be talked about. Does Redick actually think he can win with this team? If the Lakers were smart, they would have learned a valuable lesson from the Celtics. Boston traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in order to create Banner 18. The Lakers should do the same with LeBron and Anthony Davis. Except they won’t and another mediocre season in a loaded West is likely on the way.
