The what-if stories that you can tell from the 2018 NBA Draft are starting to become hilarious. Mikal Bridges was eventually taken with the 10th pick by his hometown 76ers that year but was traded to the Suns for Zhaire Smith and a future first rounder. Safe to say that’s one the 76ers would like to have back. However, when asked about where Bridges wanted to go, his answer might surprise you.
Mikal Bridges on his mindset before the 2018 draft:

“I thought I was going to go to New York at 9. I was excited though because I wanted to go to the Knicks, I wanted to be in New York, I’m like that’s lit… and I love MSG, all my best games in college were there.”

“I thought I was going to go to New York at 9,” Bridges said. “I was excited though because I wanted to go to the Knicks, I wanted to be in New York, I’m like that’s lit – like, kind of close to home, but a little further out – and I love MSG, all my best games in college were there.”
WOW…
Imagine if the Knicks drafted Bridges? Does anyone remember who they ended up with instead?
Ahh, yes, the poo poo platter of Kevin Knox. What a time to be alive. Knox, 23, is currently a free agent after the Knicks gave up on the former Kentucky product after three and a half years. Worst of all, the Knicks are starting to collect all the Nova guys with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo. If Bridges was on the team, that would be some serious Nova connection and they may have put up a better fight in the playoffs.
To make matters worse, now Bridges plays for the crosstown rival Nets!
Bridges, 26, averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists during his 27 games in Brooklyn this past season after the Kevin Durant trade.
