Former Chicago Bulls legend and six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan is taking his talents to the microphone!
Ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, when the new TV deal kicks in with ESPN, NBCUniversal and Amazon Prime, Jordan, widely regarded as the greatest player in the sport’s history, is joining NBC as a “special contributor,” the company announced Monday.
“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” Jordan said via release. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”
Last summer, the NBA decided to reunite with NBC after over two decades of not having a partnership.
The company has already brought in Mike Tirico to be their lead play-by-play host while also bringing in Hall of Famer Reggie Miller to become the lead color commentator; after having a strong rivalry in the 1990s, it’s objectively cool that Jordan and Miller get to work together, even if they may be in different roles.
Anyway, also a part of the network is Carmelo Anthony, Noah Eagle and Jamal Crawford. Adding Jordan to the mix isn’t nothing.
The last time we heard from Jordan in a public sphere was when he sold majority ownership of the Charlotte Hornets, which he held from 2010-23.
Starting next season, NBCUniversal (NBC, Peacock) will have 100 national games–the most of any of the three partners–plus the All-Star weekend and postseason games, in addition to widespread WNBA coverage.
