Michael Brockers Announces Retirement At 33-Years-Old
Former St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions defensive lineman Michael Brockers has recently announced his retirement after 11 seasons on social media.
Quote via Brockers’ Instagram post:
“I Truly want to thank all My Fans for supporting my family and I during these 11 beautiful yrs. I want to personally thank the Rams and Lions organizations for taking the risk on me to represent their teams,” Brockers wrote in his Instagram post. “I want to also thank My Teammates and Coaches for making me the player I was. This Game is a beautiful Game because it has aspects of life through out and this is the time where I have to Be comfortable being Uncomfortable and truly master this thing we call life.”
Brockers was drafted by the then St. Louis Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft with the 14th overall pick out of LSU. The defensive lineman would spend eight seasons with the Rams, registering 28 sacks and 395 combined tackles.
Michael Brockers would then get traded to the Detroit Lions before the 2021 NFL season for a future draft pick. In his time in Detroit, the defensive lineman from LSU would play in 22 games; getting 24 tackles and a single sack. Brockers only play in 6 games in his second season with the Lions.
Brockers didn’t play in the 23-24 season and this may have led to his decision about hanging up the cleats.
Michael Brockers isn’t the only defensive lineman to announce his retirement this offseason. As Los Angeles Ram legend and future NFL Hall of Famer Aaron Donald has also called his career quits earlier this year.
