Micah Bernard 2025 NFL Draft Profile

We’re getting into the weeds here with this running back class. It’s so damn loaded that it’s almost a given that a few of them will turn into gems deep into the draft. Let’s have a quick chat about the Utah running back. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on Micah Bernard.

Bernard, 23, really broke out during 2024. Of course, we’re talking about doing so at an advanced age but that’s the way it goes sometimes. We’re talking about a guy who was a three star recruit out of California during the 2019 cycle. Not exactly a spring chicken we’re talking about here.

He also wasn’t invited to the Combine so we don’t have precise measurements. However, he was listed at 6-foot, 206, and grew into his frame from high school. This past year, Bernard notched 197 carries for 1,009 yards and four scores. He also added 30 receptions too and can kinda catch the ball.

I won’t lie, Utah was a rough watch this past year. Once Zach Wilson’s brother got the job and totally stunk it up, the Utes were never a factor to compete in the Big 12. I watched a handful of Utah games. Here is an example. Here is one more.

I saw flashes of Zack Moss. That style of play except with maybe two fewer notches of talent. Had some fumble issues in 2021 and 2022 that got cleaned up later in his career. Has a bit of a taller upright running style that’s better suited between the tackles. Not one of these speed backs that’s going to take everything outside.

Has never been a crazy efficient runner either. Averaging a more than fine 5.3 yards per carry in college but I never really saw any wow, how did he did that and create extra yardage runs. Never going to be a guy who has these amazing tools to work with.

Bernard was a participant at the Hula Bowl for anyone who watched that. We do have some numbers from the Big 12 Pro Day but keep in mind, often times these are fluffed in the players favor. A 4.58 at a Pro Day lowkey stinks. Again, he’s going to be better as that inside runner who can kinda do some things between the tackles. 38.5 inch vertical is really good. Decent footwork in short area.

I have an undrafted grade on Micah Bernard but I don’t think he totally sucks. I don’t mind handing out a preseason invite here. He’s a deep running back to actually track compared to others in this category who really are a waste of time.
