The Crimson Tide successfully landed a stud wide receiver out of the transfer portal.
Matt Zenitz over at 247 Sports was the first to report the news:
Isaiah Horton had great success this past season at Miami with Cam Ward throwing him the ball. In 2024, Horton notched 56 receptions for 616 yards and five scores. In 29 career games with the Canes, he’s compiled 70 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns. Obviously, a vast majority of his production came with Cam Ward this past year.
The new Bama wide receiver was a four-star recruit out of Murfreesboro Tennessee during the 2022 high school recruiting cycle. He will join Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard who are both set to return this upcoming season. This is a huge get for Bama because Caleb Odom, Kobe Prentice, and Kendrick Law are all set to leave via the portal. Horton will bring some needed experience and height to that group in 2025.
Horton, 6-foot-4, 205, will have two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting his freshman season. The biggest question mark heading into 2025… who is going to be throwing him the ball? With Jalen Milroe likely to declare for the NFL Draft, the candidates to start for the Tide next year include Ty Simpson and Austin Mack. That is unless true freshman Keelon Russell is ready to go right away. The biggest question is what version of Horton will we see without Ward throwing him the ball? That part is TBD.
