Miami Dolphins Agree To Extension With Alec Ingold

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to an extension with fullback Alec Ingold, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported Thursday afternoon.

The three-year, $17.2 million deal makes Ingold the AFC’s highest-paid fullback, passing Patrick Ricard ($11.25 million). In terms of total value, he currently stands as the NFL’s second-highest-paid fullback, trailing only Kyle Juszczyk ($27 million).

Ingold’s $5.7 million salary makes him the highest paid fullback in terms of salary per year, per Over the Cap, with Juszczyk at $5.4 million.

The Dolphins failed to come to an agreement for an extension with star defensive end Christian Wilkins, and will table trade talks with him until the season ends. According to Chris Grier, general manager of the Dolphins, there’s no bad blood between Wilkins and the team. “We made an offer that we thought was fair. There is no ill-will,” Grier said, via Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

Ingold has a contract that binds him to the Dolphins until 2026. In his first year with the team, he led the AFC in yards (113) and receptions (13) for fullbacks.

The Dolphins acquired Ingold in March 2022 after he had previously played for the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, he gets a hefty extension with a playoff contender in the AFC gauntlet.
