Mark Adams Joining Chris Beard’s Ole Miss Basketball Staff

As first reported by Brandon Soliz of KCBD, Mark Adams will be teaming back up with head coach Chris Beard, this time on the Ole Miss Basketball staff.

Adams was a longtime Beard assistant, working alongside him from 2015-16 at Little Rock and 2016-2021 at Texas Tech. In six seasons together, the Beard-Adams tandem reached the NCAA Tournament four times, including a 2019 Final Four appearance where the Red Raiders finished runners-up to national champion Virginia.

When Chris Beard left Texas Tech for his alma mater Texas, Mark Adams filled the vacancy in Lubbock. He posted a 43-25 record as the Texas Tech head coach, guiding the Red Raiders to the Sweet 16 of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Adams stepped down near the end of his second season at the helm following a report that he made a racially insensitive remark towards one of his players. The university initially suspended Adams before he made the decision to leave.

Mark Adams resigned from the Texas Tech job in 2023 before taking a job as an assistant at East Carolina. The Pirates finished 15-18 and 7-11 in AAC play in the 2023-24 season.

Last season, Beard’s first, Ole Miss Basketball finished 20-12 overall and 7-11 in SEC play. The Rebels were not selected for the 2024 NCAA Tournament and Chris Beard opted not to participate in the 2024 NIT. Ole Miss has a number of transfers on the way for the 2024-25 campaign and their incoming freshman class ranks No. 48 per the 247Sports Composite. Looking far ahead to 2025, Ole Miss Basketball currently has the No. 1 recruiting class per the 247Sports Composite.
