Marcus Yarns 2025 NFL Draft Profile

This running back class is so loaded that Delaware, yes, Delaware has someone in the mix here. Could Yarns be one of the hidden gems of this class? Let’s talk about it during this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile series!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (3)

I’ll be the first to admit; I’m not watching 90 hours of film of Delaware football. Send in a donation to the site and I’ll happily do that. With that said, I’m not sure it’s necessary. The NFL Draft isn’t much different than American Idol. If you know what you’re doing, it’s not hard to figure out if a person can sing or not. Same thing here. The Senior Bowl and Combine gave a pretty good in-depth look on what I think we’re looking at here.

Yarns, 23, was a zero star recruit out of the state of Maryland. He played all four years with the Blue Hens at Delaware. Checks in at 5-foot-10, 193, and is a total change of pace type of player. Brings plus speed to the table. Not as quick as you would like short area but is passable in that area. Best trait might be the passing game stuff. Looks good in that area and can get open.

Didn’t factor in much as a freshman. Then showed some flashes as a sophomore. The last two years are what got him invited to all these events. 7.0 YPC as a junior is damn good regardless of the competition Delaware plays. That’s with 15 rushing touchdowns. He was at 6.3 YPC this past year and has a track record for receiving down work. 11 touchdowns over the last three years for a back in the passing game isn’t nothing.

More than anything, we just have to be realistic what we’re looking at. Not going to break any tackles. Goes down with marginal contact. Played in the FCS and smaller backs in that conference don’t exactly have a long track record of success.

It’s all about getting the ball in his hands in space. Going to be a tough cover for linebackers in coverage. Can definitely run and has some sneaky juke moves in his bag.

Call me crazy but I actually don’t hate the idea of using a late round pick here. Look, you’re hoping to catch Keaton Mitchell in a bottle. If he’s there in the 7th round, I think you can be talked into worse ideas. Not my favorite back in the class but he doesn’t suck either.
