Marcus Major 2025 NFL Draft Profile

There is going to be some hidden gems in this running back class. Could Marcus Major be one of them? Let’s talk about it in this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile series!

In reality, this is really what you need to know. Darius Taylor is the dude at Minnesota. Taylor is an actual NFL player. Major got playing time sparingly behind him and was never close to challenging for the starting role. Taylor truly is a stud on the horizon. If you want a back to watch, keep an eye on Taylor for next year. There was no reason to mention Major in the stock notes. It’s the other guy who needs to be monitored.

Major, a former three star guy in the 2019 class, spent five years at Oklahoma before finishing up with the Golden Gophers. I’m not sure if Major thought he was going to get significant playing time at Minnesota, but that did not happen. He got 78 carries in a reserve role, which is the same amount he had during his final year with the Sooners. In 35 career games during five years at Oklahoma, he got 217 total touches in the run and pass game. Just never ever cracked the rotation to be a real part of the offense.

6-foot, 220, so there is some size here. It just almost feels like the Ulysses Bentley of this class with more size and less actual talent with somehow even less production. No elite traits. Might not even be any good traits. College backup forever who is going to have to grind like hell to even be that at the NFL level.

Marcus Major has an undrafted grade for me. Again, this running back class is loaded. We know that much but if you’re not even in consideration for a Combine invite, you’re definitely not getting picked. Nor does he deserve to be picked based on the way his college career has gone. He wouldn’t be a priority add for me as an undrafted free agent either.
