Manny Machado Isn’t Fond Of Hustling

Manny Machado was acquired by the Dodgers to help lead Los Angeles to their first World Series crown since 1988. Machado also has something to play for considering he will hit free agency following this postseason. The Dodgers currently trail the Brewers 2-1 in the NLCS and Machado has been criticized for not hustling this postseason. Machado’s response was the most shocking part.

“Obviously I’m not going to change, I’m not the type of player that’s going to be ‘Johnny Hustle,’ and run down the line and slide to first base and … you know, whatever can happen,” Machado said in the interview, which was published in The Athletic. “That’s just not my personality, that’s not my cup of tea, that’s not who I am.

“Should I have run on that pitch? Yeah … but I didn’t and I gotta pay the consequences for it. It does look bad. It looks terrible. I look back at the video and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what was I doing?'”

Is this guy serious? If he can’t hustle now in a contract year, then what’s going to happen if he lands a $300 million contract? What a bum! I’m out on Manny Machado. He is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. Pablo Sandoval 2.0 is Manny Machado. I wouldn’t go near this guy once free agency starts. It’s one thing not to hustle. it’s another thing not to even try to cover it up.

We have seen this way too many times. Baseball players who get paid and then don’t care. I’m sure this won’t hurt his free agency because teams are always desperate to blow money but this is embarrassing for Machado’s stock. You get paid to play baseball. Run down the first base line. There are billions of people that wish they had the talent to play baseball professionally. Then we have bums like Machado who don’t care. Furthermore, Machado also had two dirty slides at second base trying to take out Orlando Arcia. Something he’s done in the past. There are no other words to describe it. I hate Manny Machado.
