Leon Edwards, Belal Muhammad Set To Headline UFC 304

The UFC is heading to the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England for UFC 304. UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards will headline the event against Belal Muhammad. UFC CEO Dana White announced the fight on social media.

UFC 304 will also feature an interim heavyweight title fight between Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes.

Edwards, who is from Birmingham, is one of the biggest stars of English MMA. That is largely because of his rise to the top of the welterweight division. Edwards won the title against Kamaru Usman and proceeded to defend the title twice. Those defenses came against Usman and Colby Covington.

Muhammad earned a title fight after a ten-fight run that included nine wins and a no-contest. In that run, he picked up wins over Gilbert Burns, Sean Brady, Vincente Luque, Stephen Thompson, and others.

Edwards and Muhammad have a history with one another. In 2021, Muhammad stepped in on short notice to fight Edwards. The fight ended unceremoniously after Edwards poked Muhammad in the eye. The eye poke was ruled incidental and the bout was deemed a no-contest. At UFC 304, they will have a chance to settle the score.

It was not a secret that Edwards would potentially defend his title against Muhammad. The challenger called out Edwards after UFC 296. A slight bit of confusion was added to the situation when Edwards was offered three fights for UFC 300, but Muhammad was not in the mix. Despite that, the UFC called Muhammad for UFC 304.

UFC 296: Five Things We Learned

The UFC 304 main card is rounded out with several big names in English MMA. A featherweight fight between Arnold Allen and Giga Chikadze will kick off the main card. A flyweight bout will title implications between Muhammad Mokaev and Manel Kape will follow. Lastly, Paddy Pimblett and Bobby Green will compete in the feature bout.
