Lee Corso Is Retiring From College Gameday

College Gameday is one of the most iconic sports shows ever. It is a staple of college football Saturdays, and it usually sets the stage for the best games of the weekend. The historic show has been on air for 38 years, and Lee Corso has been there from the start. It also appears the time has finally come as Corso is stepping away and retiring at the age of 90.

Corso is retiring in week one of the 2025 season on College Gameday for his final send-off on ESPN. The show is losing an absolute legend of the game, but the show is still in a great place. I’d say over the past few years, College Gameday has had a huge resurgence. The show changed up the desk with a working formula of Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban every Saturday. This lineup of hosts has been amazing and boosted the show. Also, ESPN College Gameday has had fun segments like McAfee’s field goal, and the celebrity guests have been creating super viral moments more frequently.

Lee Corso has done so much for this show over the last few decades in the college football space. He made his first headgear pick in 1996, and it has become synonymous with college football. 430 headgear picks later, and that tradition is one of the most widely adored in college football. The show is in a great place right now, and it has a strong foundation that can be attributed to Corso. Everyone will have to tune in on Saturday, August 30, to see Lee Corso’s final College Gameday headgear pick.
