Can LeBron James play into his 40s?

The greatest basketball player of all time is back for at least one more season in the NBA, so that begs the question, can LeBron James play into his 40s? James’s agent and longtime friend Rich Paul believes that he can.

“He’s one guy that I’m not gonna say ‘no’ about,” Paul said. “I think it’s important to understand what really motivates him, I know it, obviously, I’ve been around him for so long. I can tell you what his day probably looks like without even talking to him. And as long as his mind is there, as long as he’s still excited about playing the game, in addition to the health, absolutely.

After losing to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals last season, James’ career became in question.

“I’ve done what I’ve had to do in this league, and my son is going to take his journey,” James said, via ESPN. “And whatever his journey, however his journey lays out, he’s going to do what’s best for him. And as his dad, and his mom, Savannah, and his brother and sister, we’re going to support him in whatever he decides to do. So, just because that’s my aspiration or my goal, doesn’t mean it’s his. And I’m absolutely OK with that.”

Although James is coming up on 39-years-old in December, he has shown no signs of slowing down. In Game 4 against Denver, ultimately the Lakers’ last game of the season, James put up a ridiculous stat line of 40 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists on 60 percent from the field and 57 percent from 3-point range.

As of right now, James might be getting even better. His game is aging better and better. The King has averaged the least amount of turnovers since his 2012-13 season and averaged the fifth-highest points per game in his career.

With no sign of slowing down and his motor even accelerating, I firmly believe that LeBron James will play into his 40s. Will James play into his 40s or will he retire before he gets a chance to play with his son? Let us know in the comments.
