The Alien franchise is synonymous these days with varying degrees of quality. Some projects have been masterpieces, while others are dumpster fires that should have never been made. But now the series is taking a bold new step into the realm of TV, with the upcoming show now having found its lead actress for the project: Sydney Chandler.
The Alien TV show will feature actress Sydney Chandler in the lead role. Chandler previously starred in another FX project Pistol, which told the story of the Sex Pistols band. She will also be partnering with Colin Farrell in another project titled Sugar, something that she won’t be playing, however, as the character Ellen Ripley. Director Noah Hawley, who is most famous for his work on the show Fargo, wants to separate his TV show from Ridley Scott’s film franchise as much as possible.
“She’s one of the great characters of all time,” Hawley said. “I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it.”
While few details have been released about the show itself, some things have been revealed by Hawley since the announcement, including some bits and pieces on where he wants the show to head. Hawley wants to tell a “story about inequality.” What this means for the actual plot, we’ll just have to wait and see.
But with Alien likely not appearing until 2024, there is a lot of time and production work before the project manifests itself onto Hulu. Things might just change a lot with the plot, or things might just not change at all. Only time will tell how the Alien TV show pans out.
