I always wonder sometimes if certain internet jokes make it to NBA circles and how much weight those jokes hold. There is a running joke/meme about Karl Anthony Towns’ frequent changes in tone of voice. His voice at times can be higher pitched and therefore sound feminine, other times it appears he makes his voice intentionally deeper. These clips make him the center of a lot of jokes, but it appears Kyrie Irving wants this to end.
Irving is not new to being the talk of the internet or having some internet haters of his own. He has had issues in the past like suggesting the world is flat which drew a lot of negativity online. Also, some people would even go as far as to call him the NBA Antonio Brown.
“Stop making fun of my brother KAT. It’s over now. It’s a f—ing wrap,” Irving said. “I’m letting y’all know, if you repost that shit again and meme him up, I’m attacking you. Not like that, physically … but, I’m attacking you, alright? I’m attacking you.
“Trust me on that. … He grew up in a certain area in Jersey, just like me, and you gotta survive out here. And you have many different demographics of people.”
However, after all the “crazy” things Kyrie has said, he does seem to be quick to stand up for his fellow players. Irving came to KAT’s defense in a recent passionate tangent while streaming on Twitch.
In his speech, Irving made it clear that he does not always support Karl Anthony Towns’s decision to change his voice. However, he is showing strong solidarity with Towns, respecting their New Jersey connection.
Kyrie Irving is not one to shy away from trolls or confrontation, so he will apparently be accepting all the smoke when it comes to KAT slander. Unfortunately, the plague of insufferable internet trolls that live to spread negativity will never end, so Irving has a long battle ahead of him.
