Kyle Williams 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Kyle Williams seems to have some buzz during the predraft process. The 2025 NFL Draft profile series is about getting to the truth. What kind of player will the Washington State wide receiver be at the next level? I have so many more of these to do so let’s just get right into things!

Williams, 22, was a three star prospect out of the state of California. After three years at UNLV, Williams finished up his final two campaigns with Washington State. In 25 games for UNLV, Williams posted 117 receptions for 1,568 yards and nine scores. This past year was his real breakout year recording 70 receptions for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns.

I also have zero stock notes on this player. He showed some flashes with Cam Ward, but nothing to where I felt like I needed to write him down. Williams carried that momentum with a big 2024 with John Mateer throwing him the ball. I’ve heard some buzz that people loved his Senior Bowl. I’m really not sure what they’re talking about. It felt like he was in witness protection. I can’t recall a single WTF moment in a good or bad way when he was there.

The 4.40 speed is there, but I thought his Combine was atrocious. Bad drop issues, no real route running prowess. Just looked like a fast guy who wasn’t a refined football player with high end skill. One of the least impressive Combine workouts out of the entire group.

Williams checks in at 5-foot-11, 190, with 30 inch arms. He’s not exactly a big body with a huge catch radius. Despite the fact that I don’t have a mega write up on him in the stock notes, this one feels very easy to identify. The guy has vertical speed and can make things happen with the ball in his hands. He’s just not it in the short area stuff, route running, or hands catcher department.

Let me say this as well. Williams benefited from great QB play, and I think it’s a big reason why people are overhyping him. Just because Ward and Mateer had limited options to throw to doesn’t mean that Williams is a lightning rod NFL guy because of it. Might have speed, but the 1.60 ten yard time exemplifies a lot of this.

I have a 6th-7th round grade on Kyle Williams. Not that I think he’s totally terrible, but he’s clearly flawed. Based on the hype, I know he won’t end up on my team, but I’d be willing to be in the mix during the UFA period if he somehow slipped that far.
