Did you know Kyle McCord led college football in passing yards this past year? Now the Syracuse quarterback is about to enter the NFL ranks, but will he continue that positive momentum? No time to waste, let’s get right to the McCord 2025 NFL Draft profile!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 4, Week 6, Week 9, Week 14, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4)
McCord, 22, was a four star recruit during the 2021 cycle. That includes being listed as the 49th overall player, 8th ranked QB, and third overall player in the state of Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia native spent three years at Ohio State before finishing up with the Orange.
I don’t care what anybody says. Ohio State downgraded at quarterback this past year. McCord posted a 34-12 TD to INT ratio and really carried this program to a ten win season. 4,779 passing yards at 66% is no joke. That’s without the horses at Ohio State catching the ball too.
It’s clear that McCord simply got better. The stock notes illustrate the progression if you want to read them. The Pitt game was brutal, but there’s no denying he was a stud all year and ended Miami’s season. He’s a pure pocket quarterback, but you can tell he’s progressed in terms of decision making and knowing where to go with the ball.
Arm strength isn’t a concern. Has a nice whippy arm, and it comes out fast. Let’s just call it how it is. The pre-draft process only confirmed everything we saw all year. His week at the East-West may have been the best QB performance I’ve ever seen at that event. He was so good that he didn’t even go to the game because it was obvious he was just way better than everyone else. The Combine was also really good stuff.
I’m not telling you that McCord is this elite level franchise quarterback that’s going to carry you to a Super Bowl. He’s not a twitched up athlete that thrives at making the second play through adaptation. If that’s the only complaint, this is going to be a really nice find in the middle rounds who can be developed further. The lack of rushing element is already pushing him down the board to where his price is more than reasonable.
