Kevon Looney has quietly made himself a key role player in the Golden State Warriors organization. Now in his 5th season with the Warriors, Looney will be looked at as one of the Warriors key players now that the lineup is depleted after this offseason. Kevon Looney is the next man up.

Kevon Looney’s Role

Kevon Looney has seen an increase in minutes as his career goes on, not always putting up a lot of points but a solid defensive big man that can rebound and get a few buckets here and there. Last season, he averaged 18 minutes a game. In those 18 minutes, he only averaged 6 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 1.5 APG. Yikes right? But as mentioned his role is his presence on defense and being able to grab boards for the team. Mathematically speaking, He’d average a double-double per 36 minutes. With the mentioned before depleted Warriors roster, I can easily see his minutes going up to 30, near the starting lineup range. I mean let’s think about it, Klay is out for the season, Steph Curry is the number 1 option, DLo and Draymond Green are options 2/3 annnnnnnnnd who else is there? Kevon Looney. Looney might not be a prolific scorer by any means but his stats are going to take a huge jump from last season to this season.

Whether Kevon Looney likes it or not, his value to the Warriors just increased exponentially. He’s not looked at just a key role player anymore, teams will now try to have a gameplan against him to have the best shot at winning. Defense and rebounding are fundamentals that win games in basketball, bot of those is what Looney excels that. If he can average just 15 points and 10 ish rebounds a game, the Warriors chances of winning increase tremendously. Next man up Kevon Looney, the time is now.
