With several former NBA players now trying their hand at media, we seem to get many more stories about what goes down in NBA locker rooms due to the relationships these former players have with guys still in the league. Most recently, former NBA big man DeMarcus Cousins reported that the Phoenix Suns had multiple fistfights in the locker room this past season. Suns star Kevin Durant took to Twitter to dispute this claim. He acknowledged that while his team didn’t live up to expectations, morale didn’t deteriorate to the point of blows.
Boogie Cousins replied to Durant’s tweet and defended his reporting, clarifying that he got the scoop from another member of the Phoenix Suns.
We’ll probably never know who was right, but it shouldn’t be surprising to hear the Phoenix Suns may have experienced some internal friction. They were projected to finish sixth in the Western Conference per Vendetta’s Matt Hanifan and ranked No. 8 in the NBA by ESPN prior to the season. The Suns finished the 2024-25 campaign 36-46 and missed the Western Conference playoffs.
Kevin Durant is entering the final year of a four-year, $194 million contract. The 36-year-old is widely expected to be traded this summer.
