Kerry Collins Is A Drew Allar Believer

Karl at the website might hate Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, but he now has the back of two former alumni. Matt McGloin thinks Allar is legit. Ditto for 17-year NFL vet Kerry Collins.

Collins, the former 5th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft out of Penn State, had this to say on the current Nittany Lions signal caller.

“He’s physically imposing,” said Collins. “He’s got an NFL body and skill set. There are other guys that have had tremendous success. But I wouldn’t necessarily say what they had translated into what is needed in the NFL. … Drew has that, a hundred percent.”

“How the ball comes out of his hand, he’s got it,” Collins said. “It’s got a good whip to it, good snap to his arm. All the physical tools are there.”

Allar, 20, currently sports a 9-1 TD to INT ratio with 1,101 passing yards on over 70% completion through five starts this season. He went also gave a brief comment on what it was like to chat with Collins.

“Being able to pick his brain a little bit was really cool,” Allar said. “His biggest message was to take it all in, enjoy it … and just do everything you can to get better and put yourself in position to help your team win.”

Side note: Sorry for jumping the gun on this. I am accountable for my actions. It was a bad call… although I wouldn’t be so sure about totally discounting his NFL chances. Allar will be a hot topic when he ultimately declares for the NFL Draft.
