The Chicago Bears have started off the season in the wrong direction with an 0-2 record. Much of that is behind quarterback Justin Fields‘ play. Fields addressed his poor play Wednesday, but doesn’t view himself as the problem. His reasoning: Coaching is what’s wrong with the offense.
Last season, Fields took a major leap in progression in both areas of offense. Not only did the young quarterback improve his passing, but his rushing stood out the most, racking up over 1,100 yards on the ground with eight touchdowns on the season. Fields looked promising heading into 2023–it became the year of Justin Fields! Or so we thought.
“Could be coaching, I think,” Fields said. “But at the end of the day … they’re doing their job when they’re giving me what to look at and stuff like that, but at the end of the day, I can’t be thinking about that when the game comes. I prepare myself throughout the week and when the game comes, it’s time to play free at that point. So just thinking less, and playing more.”

The Bears’ rocky 0-2 start came at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and division-rival Green Bay Packers in the season-opener.
In those two games, Fields has thrown only two touchdowns with three interceptions, two of them being ran back for scores. The only man to blame is Fields, right? Wrong, the former Ohio State quarterback is blaming HIS poor play on the coaching.
Fields and the rest of the Chicago Bears squad look to turn the tide on the season next week as they face a tough Kansas City Chiefs team in Missouri.
