Joshua Simon 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Tight ends are just weird, and this one we’re about to talk about doesn’t help change that narrative. We’re going to have a quick chat about Joshua Simon, and I’m just going to get into it now if you don’t mind. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on the South Carolina tight end!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, East-West (3)

Simon, 24, was a two star wide receiver prospect coming out of high school. The Sumter, South Carolina, native checks in at 6-foot-4, 239, and is really more of a Big F kinda of player at the position. He profiles best as a receiving threat with someone else taking on the in-line opportunities. He was also in college forever and finally enters the NFL after six seasons.

We’re looking at four years at Western Kentucky and finishing up with two years for the Gamecocks. We can go over the stats with the Hiltoppers, but that feels like an incredible waste of time. 2024 was Simon’s best season anyway as he capped off his final collegiate campaign with 40 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns.

Simon sort of feels like a lump of clay. I thought he had a respectable Combine showing. The 4.65 is very respectable and was far better than several who did run. A 38 inch vertical also checks out well. He had a pretty decent showing at the East-West game, too. I think the real question is, did Simon look good because he’s just older and already peaked or is there still room to grow? Because in reality, Simon started peaking late in the 2024 season and we didn’t get much prior to that.

Certainly has some speed with a plus catch radius. I’m just not sure I ever see special. A lot of his production this past year came on dump offs and red area looks. He’s also a move tight end with a limited route tree.

I have an undrafted grade on Joshua Simon but I don’t necessarily think he totally sucks. He’s a deserving preseason camp invite guy for me, and could have some upside as a possible depth piece who can provide some impact in the pass catching department.
