Joshua Primo signs two-way deal with Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have signed recently-suspended guard Joshua Primo, who was released by the San Antonio Spurs last October, to a two-way contract, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Friday.

Primo was released after allegations stemming from multiple instances of exposing himself to women, including the Spurs’ team psychologist, Dr. Hillary Cauthen. She filed a lawsuit against Primo and the Spurs last November, accusing him of exposing himself a total of nine times and accusing the Spurs of negligence, according to ESPN NBA insider Tim MacMahon.

According to that report, she alleged (in the lawsuit) that the team “ignored her complaints, hoping the organization could ignore and then cover up Primo’s actions,” and that San Antonio was “willing to tolerate abhorrent conduct on the part of athletes and sacrifice loyal employees, so long as the athlete is successful on the court.”

Primo was suspended for four games without pay for “conduct detrimental to the league,” per a league’s memo released Friday morning. According to the NBA’s investigation, they found that Primo “engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior by exposing himself to women.” The NBA did not find evidence to suggest he or any other party participated in any sexual activity from the exposures.

According to Wojnarowski, Primo has been undergoing “evaluation with specialists who consult with the Clippers and the organization is comfortable giving him this opportunity.”

The Clippers had one two-way spot available entering Friday, with the other two occupied by Moussa Diabate and Jordan Miller. The 2023-24 season will be the first where a team can carry up to three two-way players, who are eligible for 50 of the team’s 82 regular season games with a salary of approximately $560K.
