Josh McDaniels clearly hates Hunter Renfrow and it’s so obvious. The former Clemson product is in the McDaniels dog house and wasn’t even used this week against the Patriots. McDaniels clearly likes Jakobi Meyers but Renfrow isn’t involved in this offense at all.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Raiders trying to trade Renfrow prior to the trade deadline. The deadline is on Halloween this year, October, 31st.
Renfrow, 28, was a 1,000+ yard receiver in 2021. I refuse to believe that he totally sucks. If Jon Gruden knew how to use him, why should this be viewed as acceptable? The Raiders also owe Renfrow $13.1 million this year. Vegas is paying him a lot of money to sit on the bench. I get that teams make mistakes but Renfrow earned that money. There was a moment in time when I was convinced that Renfrow was better than Terry McLaurin. Maybe that was a stretch, but clearly McDaniels has some sort of agenda here.
At this point, it would be surprising to see Renfrow finish out the 2023-24 NFL Season in a Raiders uniform. I’m not saying losing Renfrow is the end of the world, but this team continues to find ways to be embarrassing. They’re going to botch this tank job and continue to waste everyone’s time with this Jimmy G/Brian Hoyer thing. If anything, maybe reevaluate if you want to keep McDaniels on as the coach before you go dumping any player that he wants to get rid of. Shouldn’t this organization have learned that exact lesson when Gruden/Mayock tanked them into the ground?
