Jordan Love noncommittal about playing under current contract

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was signed to a one-year, $13.5 million deal last year instead of having his fifth-year option picked up. Now, the fifth-year quarterback appears noncommittal about playing under his current deal without an extension.

“We’ll see,” Love said Tuesday. “I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”

Love’s one-year deal includes $11 million in cash with a $12.8 million cap hit, marks that rank No. 21 and 19, respectively, per Spotrac. According to the contract, there are three void years–from 2025-2027–that begin 23 days before the start of the 2025 league year.

Love, 25, finished with 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He was one of the best quarterbacks down the stretch of last season, closing the final eight games of the regular season with 2,150 yards and 18 touchdowns to just one interception. He went 37-55 combined with 466 yards, five touchdowns in two interceptions in Green Bay’s two playoff games against the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.

Love being at the team’s voluntary OTAs is a good sign for a possible extension coming–or him wanting to play on his current one-year deal. Though quarterback deals only continue to skyrocket, so signing Love to a long-term extension sooner rather than later is the most ideal outcome.

The Packers currently have $21.3 million in cap space, and for the next two seasons, will have $52.2 million (9th-most) and $105.3 million (17th-most), respectively, per Over The Cap. They will also need to make decisions on Kenny Clark, Eric Stokes, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed, among others. They have the resources to complete a Love extension, but that number will subsequently affect any possible deals for other players.

How do you think Green Bay should extend Love? Let us know in the comments!
