Jonathan Quick has been traded to Las Vegas

(Mark J. Terrill / Associated Press)

Las Vegas is trading for King’s and Columbus goaltender Jonathan Quick

After a brief stop in Columbus, it looks like longtime Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick is headed to the city of sin in a trade with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Via Darren Dreger.

Quick’s time in Columbus didn’t last long, to say the least. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will receive the 37-year-old goaltender in exchange for Michael Hutchinson and a 2025 seventh-round pick. Vegas will also retain 50% of Quick’s salary. He is currently earning $5.8 million this year. Quick will become an unrestricted free agent next season.

Vegas has demoted the former Los Angeles King to now a Golden Knight. The Golden Knights goaltending has been fair all season. Not good or bad, but essentially mid. Logan Thompson has been very off and on all season. He currently has a save percentage of .914 and a goals against average of 2.66. Thompson’s record with the Knights is 20-13-3. Adin Hill has been decent in net for the Knights this season. The 6 foot 4 goaltender has a save percentage of .912 and a goals against average of 2.50. Quick will be a good addition to this goaltending group as Thompson is dealing with an injury, and come playoff time, he has the experience.

Although Quick isn’t having his best season this year, he will make an impact. In fact, he is having his statistically worst season yet. Quick has a save percentage of .876, a goals against average of 3.50, and one shutout. But, as I said before, come playoff time, Quick is a great piece for this Knights team. Vegas got him for practically nothing, so why not make this deal?
