Jonathan Marchessault Sounds Totally Delusional Over Contract Dispute With Vegas

Jonathan Marchessault signed a five-year contract with the Nashville Predators this Summer. The Conn Smythe Trophy winner in 2023 doesn’t exactly sound over about what happened with his old club.

Marchessault will always be a franchise icon in Vegas after the Stanley Cup victory a couple of years ago. However, his comments now are starting to become totally delusional.

VIA The Cam and Strick Podcast:

“In Vegas, I called the GM (Kelly McCrimmon) on Friday, I called the president (George McPhee) on Saturday, I’m like, ‘What’s going on, what do you guys want to do? I need to know, are you guys actually letting me go for real?’ Then, when Sunday showed up, nothing was budging,” Marchessault said, adding that he was asking for a four-year contract but the Golden Knights were offering three.

I’m sorry but the guy really has no right to be upset. If the offer from Vegas was the same financially as what he got from Nashville, don’t cry wolf, buddy. The more information we get, it sure sounds like the only deal breaker here was the fact that Vegas wasn’t willing to go beyond three years. Which should be deemed totally understandable for a guy who turns 34 in December.

If Marchessault wanted to stay in Vegas, he should have taken the three year deal they were offering. He can bring up loyalty all he wants but what he did was show the opposite of loyalty. Vegas picked Marchy in the expansion draft and played him big minutes day one they got him. We’re talking about a player that was undrafted and Vegas provided him his first real high leverage role. To bolt because they weren’t willing to give him a deal into his age 38 season is insane. At some point, look yourself in the mirror…
