Jonah Jackson Signs With Rams
The Los Angeles Rams bolstered its interior offensive line with the signing of Jonah Jackson. The two-sided agreed to a three-year deal, $51 million deal with $34 million worth of guaranteed money, according to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo.
Jackson was a staple of a strong offensive line unit in Detroit. The only issue was that he only managed to play in 12 games in 2024. On a positive note, the Lions’ offensive line was much better when Jackson was on the field. That is a testament to his abilities.
The Rams have spent significant money to ensure its interior offensive line is elite. In addition to signing Jackson, they gave Kevin Dotson a three-year extension worth $48 million. The pairing of Jackson and Dotson will give the Rams a strong guard combination.
A strong interior offensive line is paramount for the Rams. That is largely because of the age and health of starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. The 36-year-old has been productive when healthy, but he has been beaten up in recent seasons. A strong interior offensive line can help keep Stafford upright. Hopefully, that results in good health.
Furthermore, Jackson was productive in a run-heavy scheme with the Lions. In Los Angeles, he will help create running lanes for Kyren Williams. An improved running game should always be viewed as a positive.
As for Detroit, the loss of Jackson was not ideal; however, they were able to bring back Graham Glasgow. That helps reduce the sting of losing Jackson. Still, they have a hole at left guard.
