Jon Gruden Signs Media Deal With Barstool Sports

Jon Gruden has essentially been exiled from the NFL and Barstool Sports is banned from every single event Roger Goodell is present at. I guess that means the two are a match made in heaven!

Gruden, 61, will put the NFL on hold for now and will sign a media deal with Barstool Sports.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news. The news was later confirmed by Barstool’s founder Dave Portnoy.

It remains to be seen exactly what Gruden will do with Barstool. His YouTube channel has added a ton of subscribers in such a short period of time. I can’t imagine that Gruden is the type to blog so it might be safe to assume that his YouTube channel will provide a blue print for the type of content he will produce at Barstool.

It also remains to be seen if this new deal precludes Gruden from jumping back into the NFL. This deal might also end that dream but you never know. If an NFL team offers Gruden a new gig, can he take it? That part is a big unknown. Would Barstool have even chased Gruden if it was only a temporary gig? It sure looks like there will be a lot of NFL openings coming up. Would Gruden leave for a head coaching job? What about if it’s an offensive coordinator role?
