Joe Mazzulla Had a Hilarious Quizlet Account

The contingent of high school and college students reading this will no doubt be familiar with Quizlet. The flash card site is a popular choice for those looking to cram for an upcoming test. It’s apparently also popular among NBA coaches looking to scout their opponents. And by coaches, really I just mean Joe Mazzulla, interim head coach of the Boston Celtics.

Twitter user @groovyk8 made the discovery yesterday after looking for a study set on Phoenix Suns players so she could talk about the team with her boyfriend. She got far more than she bargained for. The account “Joseph_Mazzulla” came across her feed, featuring a profile picture of the coach and his family. Mazzulla was using Quizlet for scouting reports before he was coaching the Celtics and accidentally left them public.

I’m not going to fill this post with Tweets, but here are some very blunt bits from other scouting reports:

• Russell Westbrook: “TERRIBLE 3 POINT SHOOTER”
• Michael Porter Jr.: “SELFISH PLAYER ALWAYS LOOKING TO SCORE FOR HIMSELF”
• Victor Oladipo: “LOOKING TO ATTACK IN PNR NOT PASS”

Many NBA teams had entire study sets on Mazzulla’s Quizlet.

Quizlet’s official Twitter account was quick to point out Boston’s success.

Soon after the Quizlet account was found and posted on Twitter, Mazzulla went in and scrubbed the whole thing clean. The profile no longer exists. Some users on Twitter and Reddit were able to archive the entire thing. When asked about it, he did not outright deny that it was real.

Does everyone in the Boston Celtics organization have an old account just waiting to be discovered? Jayson Tatum’s YouTube channel came to light last year, Joe Mazzulla’s Quizlet was uncovered this year – what’s next? Does Jaylen Brown have a Pinterest board somewhere? Anyone caught wind of a Luke Kornet Triller account? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
