Jimmy Butler Jokingly Doesn’t Share the Spotlight

Jimmy Butler had himself a GAME against the Phoenix Suns. He had 34 points in the game, including 30 of that in the first half. The Miami Heat routed the Phoenix Suns 124-108. After the game, of course, it would be Jimmy Butler who gets the after game interview. Butler made sure it was only going to be him in the video too.

At first, you can see Meyers Leonard with the towel trying to video bomb Jimmy Butler. Meyers Leonard is mostly a bench player for the team. He only played 13 minutes and had 6 points during that time. Jimmy Butler quickly dismisses him to go to the locker room. A couple of seconds later you can see Bam Adebayo trying to video bomb Butler more sneakily. Bam had himself an all-around game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in 35 minutes. Jimmy Butler, who has always had great court vision, notices him right away and dismisses him as well. Bam Adebayo asks for Butler to dap him up before he leaves. Butler does and says “Good shit baby, we got another one tomorrow.”

The reporter asks “What is it that you don’t enjoy about the video bombs?” Butler responds, in his usual non-filter way, “It’s not about them right now, it’s about me.” Which he smiled after he said that. Well, he wasn’t wrong, this Miami Heat team is looking great after their first 8 games their record being 6-2 during that time. Jimmy Butler is arguably playing the best ball of his life leading this Heat team to a hopeful playoff spot and I am sure he could not be happier. Butler has always seen himself as a leader and a hard-nosed player. All in all, he just wants to win day in and day out no matter how it gets done.

He has rubbed a few players and organizations the wrong way with his style. This is including his whole debacle with the TimberWolves where he called out the starters for not playing with as much intensity as he was. Jimmy Buckets expects the best from you every day in this league and if you do not give your best, you’re going to hear about it from him. Jimmy Butler didn’t want to share the spotlight, and sometimes the leader needs to be recognized too.
