Former BYU superstar Jimmer Fredette has been added to the Denver Nuggets roster for the 2021 NBA Summer League. This will be Fredette’s first appearance in an NBA uniform since a 2019 Summer League stint with the Golden State Warriors. Jimmer averaged 9.5 points per game during that span. He has played in China for the Shanghai Sharks (everyone’s favorite meme team) since 2016 other than a brief stop in Greece’s pro league.
The legend of Jimmer Fredette began back in his college days at BYU. He was the consensus National Player of the Year in 2011 after leading the nation in scoring at 28.9 points per game. Fredette was selected 10th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, then traded on draft night to the Sacramento Kings. He bounced around the NBA for a few years, never finding consistent playing time. Jimmer eventually took his talents overseas, becoming an international superstar in China’s CBA. In four seasons with the Shanghai Sharks, the BYU product has averaged more than 36 points per game three times and has never shot below 40% from three-point range.
Jimmer played for the Nuggets summer squad back in 2016. He averaged 15.2 points per game over the summer competition that year. If he sees significant time in the 2021 Summer League, the Nuggets will benefit from the scoring punch he provides.
