Boy, you want to talk about being out of touch with what’s going on today.
For those who do not remember, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested back in 2014 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A DWI is going to get every single person pulled over, but Irsay believes because he is a rich white man he was targeted. Full quote via espn.com:
“I am prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire,” Irsay said during the interview, which aired Tuesday night. “If I’m just the average guy down the block, they’re not pulling me in, of course not.”
“I don’t care what it sounds like,” Irsay said. “It’s the truth. … I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth, and I know the truth.”
Police in the suburbs of Indianapolis pulled Jim Irsay over after he was spotted driving slowly, failing to use a turn signal and stopping in the middle of the roadway. Officers said he failed a field sobriety test after failing to recite the alphabet and other tests.
“The arrest was wrong,” he said. “I had just had hip surgery, and had been in the car for 45 minutes. And what — they asked me to walk the line? Are you kidding me? I can barely walk at all.”
Jim Irsay could not be more out of touch. Irsay is more off his rocker than normal if he actually believes he was stopped because he is a rich white man.
Sir, you were probably pulled over for breaking the law. Of course, instead of accepting the blame and moving on, he wants to try and deflect so he doesn’t look bad. But come on, this was almost 10 years ago leave well enough alone.
This just feels like he is once again trying to grab a headline. It’s sad.
