Dallas Cowboys owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones has made it be known that the Cowboys are in the hunt to host the NFL Scouting Combine in the near future. Jones recently spoke to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“We
have big ambition,” Jerry Jones said. “We certainly know that North
Texas has a commitment to sports and, in our particular case, the kind
of interest its got in football. We will advance our case for any
premier opportunity the league has to have it happen in North Texas.”
The Combine has an agreement in place for the event to be held in Indy through the year 2020. The NFL Draft, on the other hand, is very likely to leave Chicago for the following season. Chicago, Canton, Denver, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have already made it known they would also like the event to be held in their respective cities. As for Dallas, Vice President Stephen Jones knows he must secure any possible events when given the opportunity for America’s team.
“We don’t think anything is too big to hope for,” Stephen Jones said. “Obviously (we) have nothing but the greatest respect for Indy and all the things they’ve done for the combine over the years. But, as we well know, whether it’s Super Bowls or whatever, sometimes things move around.
