Jayson Tatum revealed as Cover Athlete for NBA 2K25

The road to NBA 2K25 has begun this morning with 2K announcing on social media that NBA Champion Jayson Tatum will be the cover athlete for NBA 2K25. It also announced that WNBA star A’ja Wilson and NBA legend Vince Carter will be on additional covers for the game, respectively.

People may be up in arms about Tatum’s selection, with some wishing for the likes of Anthony Edwards and Tatum’s teammate Jaylen Brown. Tatum was a great choice being one of the faces of the NBA and also playing for the defending NBA Champions doesn’t hurt now.

“It’s an honor to be named a cover athlete for NBA 2K25,” Tatum said. “I’ve been playing NBA 2K since I was a kid and it’s been a dream to one day be on the cover. Even after coming off an NBA Championship, it’s humbling to see this come to life.” 

With the reveal of NBA 2K25’s cover athletes are now official, anticipate hearing bits of news about the upcoming game in the coming weeks. Along with the reveal, there was news from 2K discussing albeit briefly revamps to new-gen and old-gen consoles in regards to the city, MyCareer and Myteam all in all revealing brief descriptions as to what fans can expect for 2K25. The game’s release will be on Sept. 6, 2024.

A point I also want to share is that whether it is significant or insignificant depends on who you are.

While this is said it should not be viewed as a deterrent to buying or not buying the game. It just seems like an interesting view. The cover will never be the sole purpose for anyone who buys a game. However, this may be a sign for the future.

Altogether, the covers look good and the choices to grace all versions of the game are hard to argue against. As there are many weeks between now and September. Fans of the franchise should hope 2K is cooking up something special with 2K25. Overall, 2K25 is still a mystery so stay tuned for more to come.
