The Boston Celtics are off to a hot start at 8-2 and sit second in the Eastern Conference at the moment. They had a great offseason and so far, the addition of Kristaps Porzingis is paying off. He seems to be clicking well with his teammates on the court and has been building chemistry with Jaylen Brown off the court.
“It’s been a joy,” Brown said. “We live in the same building, so I’ve been able to spend some time riding back from the airport with him or whenever. KP is hilarious. He’s funnier than you probably all think, but he’s a good guy. …
“Every time he sees you, he winks at you,” Brown said. “I’m like, ‘What are you winking at me for, man?’ But KP is a smooth guy.”
Brown and Prozingis have been a big part of the early success as the second and third leading scorers on the roster, behind only Jayson Tatum. They have already played a good amount of minutes on the floor together and this could be a sneaky good duo for the rest of the season.
“We’ve been able to develop some actions that have been pretty good,” Brown said. “Teams gotta make a choice between stopping me or stopping him, and you guys have seen a little bit of that.”
Porzingis had his own thoughts on their early success as well.
“It’s just going to get so much better,” Porzingis said. “Like, I’m telling you, you’re just going to see, like it’s going to get a lot better. But I love playing with him. He creates a lot of situations, he draws a lot of attention and it’s just opened things up for myself, for everyone else.”
Although most teams have only played 10 games, the league should be scared of this roster. We’ve known since the offseason that they are title favorites, but the plan is really coming together. Teams can assemble rosters with talent, but they need to have chemistry to win titles.
The Celtics have the roster and the chemistry to win a title. Barring any major injuries, they could very well win title No. 18 in 2023-24.
