Before we get into the meat and potatoes of this, can we acknowledge how good the New Heights Podcast is? Travis and Jason Kelce host the pod and it is honestly way better than it should be. Both guys are hilarious, very knowledgeable about the NFL, and have some wild stories they get into. Sometimes NFL guys after they retire launch a podcast that either flops hard or stays around way too long, I don’t think this will. Both guys seem to love doing the show, and it has taken off in popularity since they launched it back in September of 2022.
Anyway, there are reports coming out from TheAthletic.com that Kelce has agreed to a deal that will see him have a spot on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown this upcoming season. Kelce, who retired this off-season after a disappointing end to the Eagles season, had voiced his desire to stay within the Eagles organization in some capacity but now finds himself on our TV screens this fall. He is expected to fill the spot that was held by Robert Griffin III, who is unlikely to return to the program in 2024. Kelce will bring a much needed offensive line mindset to the rotation, and someone who is also naturally funny unlike some of the others on the panel.
Jason Kelce on Monday Night Countdown is a home run for ESPN. You can tell that Kelce has a natural aura about him that viewers will want to tune in for. He should bring a much-needed change of pace to the broadcast that has been missing for some time now. He is expected to continue his New Heights Podcast with his brother, Travis, while he debuts on MNC as he transitions into life after football.
