The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a big step forward in 2016 thanks in large part to the improvement of Jameis Winston as he has all the makings to become a franchise quarterback. As we head into the 2017 free agent market, it appears the young signal caller wants to add DeSean Jackson to his receiving core.
“I’ve met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here,” Winston said Wednesday, via Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. “I think he would be a great asset to our team. Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean.”
Jackson appears to be a coveted piece as he is set to hit free agency after 3 seasons in Washington. Jackson also has made it known he is open to a reunion in Philadelphia that could be quite the story. Jackson, 30, is still a productive force to be reckoned with averaging 17.9 yards per catch which was the best in the NFL a year ago.
Tampa will have about $70 million in cap space to work with heading into 2017. it’s safe to say they could be a team that throws a big offer his way come March.
