Jalen Tolbert is a Receiver I’m Drafting Everywhere
Jalen Tolbert. Remember the name because he’s gonna be lighting it up this season and you’re going to be mad you didn’t draft him. You won’t see big fantasy accounts or media companies chatting it up about the Cowboy receiver picked in the third round. But guess who are raving about him? Coaches and beat reporters: the people that actually matter. I’m not leaving any of my drafts without Tolbert and here’s why you shouldn’t either.
Now let’s not get it twisted. CeeDee Lamb will definitely be the alpha receiver in Dallas and Dalton Schultz should have an extremely productive season as well. However, with Lamb stepping into a superstar role, he’s going to get that level of defensive attention. The double teams are coming, and Dak Prescott will need other options.
Amari Cooper is gone and with Michael Gallup still recovering from a torn ACL, the Cowboys WR2 spot is wide open. Even if Gallup comes back, it won’t be an immediate jump to his old form. There are loads of opportunity for Jalen Tolbert to come in and absolutely crush it at the start of the season and keep that momentum going into a significant role for the rest of the season. On top of that, James Washington has had a seemingly tough start to training camp, leaving the door wide open for Tolbert.
You want to know who hasn’t had a tough start to training camp though? Yeah, you guessed it. I mean everyone is raving about the kid and he’s been showing out at training camp. The Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, said “He’s awesome,” and talked about him having a significant role right away. If you’re still not convinced, Tolbert also has already been developing a tremendous relationship with his quarterback. All phenomenal signs for a rookie.
The value here is insane, guys. He’s virtually free and is bound to be a starting wide receiver in a high-octane offense with an elite quarterback. I’m not sure what’s not to like. Steal Jalen Tolbert in drafts and watch your league-mates start offering trades for him mid-season.
