Houston Rockets fourth-year guard Jalen Green agreed to a three-year, $106 million rookie-scale extension with the organization, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania first reported Monday. The deal is expected to carry a third-year player option, according to Charania.
Green’s extension is rather unusual, since the majority of rookie-scale extensions cover at least four seasons. His new deal will start at $32.7 million in 2025-26 with $35.3 million and $38.0 million cap hits the next two seasons, respectively, according to Spotrac.
Green joins Trey Murphy III, Moses Moody and Jalen Suggs, among others, to have signed rookie-scale extensions before the 6 p.m. deadline Monday.
It was a rocky 2023-24 season for Green. Though he ended the season strong, averaging 24.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.1 steals on 45.4/37.3/80.8 shooting splits over his final 24 games of the season.
