Shortly after the Denver Broncos released their longtime kicker Brandon McManus, the Jacksonville Jaguars quickly inked him to a new deal, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
In doing so, the Jaguars released kicker Riley Patterson.
Former Broncos’ kicker Brandon McManus is signing a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, per source. McManus was released Tuesday and found work less than 48 hours later.

Patterson only lasted one season with the Jaguars, as his lone season in Jacksonville was quite poor, making 30 of his 35 field goals after hitting 13-of-14 kicks and nailing every single extra-point attempt as a rookie with the Lions.
Jacksonville and Denver have been on complete opposite cycles of kicking these last few years. The Jaguars have had an astonishing eight kickers in the past three seasons. Jacksonville has cycled through multiple kickers, in search of a franchise one.
Now, with the signing of the 31-year-old McManus, those poor kicking days are over. On the other hand, the Broncos are in search of a new kicker to replace McManus. Some notable options on the market are Robbie Gould, Mason Crosby and more.
McManus has been regarded as one of the best kickers since his rookie year in 2014. Throughout his career, the veteran kicker has nailed 81.4 percent of his field goals in nine seasons — equating to a total of 223 field goals and over 270 made extra points. On top of that, the former Broncos kicker accumulated almost 1,000 total points.
In 2022, McManus only hit 28 of his 36 field goals (77.8 percent) after nailing 26-of-31 (83.9 percent) in 2021. Though he went 18-of-23 from 40-plus yards and 8-of-13 from 50-plus last season.
The Jaguars added a much-needed position for their franchise with McManus and will look to add upon success from last season’s campaign.
