Isiah Pacheco Is Worth A Dart Throw At The End Of Your Drafts

Don’t fret if you’ve never heard of Isiah Pacheco before. It just means you’re not obsessed with NFL Twitter, and that’s perfectly okay. If you have heard his name before, though, it’s probably because he’s had an incredible off-season for the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact, the rookie running back taken in the seventh round has seemingly got the RB 2 job locked down in Kansas City. And that’s at the bare minimum right now.

The Kansas City backfield does seem crowded at first glance with, the former first round pick, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ronald Jones, and Jerick McKinnon. They’re all decent players and before camp started, you would have guessed Jones to be the second running back on the depth chart, but Pacheco’s talent has outshone the others.

Andy Reid has clearly been left impressed and had some great things to say about the rookie after just a few touches in the first preseason game. “I thought he ran hard and played fast. He didn’t look like he shied down from anything. Pretty accurate with the things that he did, so I thought he did a nice job.”

More than all these words, though, Pacheco’s just been a straight baller making plays at camp. Let’s take a look at the ones that have been put out on the internet.

The kid obviously has some juice. The elite traits are there with his speed and burst, and he even showed some real nice balance in the preseason game. On top of all that, he’s shown promise as a pass blocker, which is ever so important for a rookie running back to see the field. The part that should excite fantasy owners the most, though, is his clear pass-catching ability in this Chiefs offense.

CEH isn’t bad, but let’s be honest, he isn’t exactly a super dynamic player in the passing game. Pacheco could very easily at least carve out some fantasy relevance through a pass-catching role, even if he doesn’t get too many carries. Worst case, he sits on your bench all year, and he’s nice to look at. Best case, Pacheco snatches the lead running back job from CEH and relives Kareem Hunt’s rookie season with Kansas City. At the end of your drafts, it’s worth the dart throw in hopes that best case scenario hits!
