He’s never going to make it. We have our answer. A few weeks ago I wrote a post about Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran detailing why Boston needed to make a decision on his future. Duran either needed to be traded or be given an extended run with the big league club to see what they had. I would have preferred the former but Boston decided to go with the latter.
We have our answer. He’s never going to make it. Let’s just come right out and say it. Duran has now played 43 games with the big league club. He’s found a way to make sure every fan of the Red Sox hates him.
Duran can’t defend a lick. You kinda need your centerfielder to catch a fly ball. Duran is a -10 defensive runs saved in 556 career innings. It’s about to get somehow worse after today. If he’s this bad defensively, he can’t be on the roster… period.
This isn’t an overreaction. He’s the worst defensive outfielder in the big leagues and he can somehow run. It doesn’t make sense. The guy just sucks. Bottom line.
That’s not even the worst part. The guy is just a total asshole. Mouthing off at fans isn’t even the tip of the iceberg. The guy just doesn’t get it.
I never overreact like this but he can’t be on the team. I hate this guy more than almost any Red Sox player. I might even hate him more than Pablo Sandoval and that’s saying something. How can you not hate this guy? He gives you every reason to do exactly that.
On the season, Duran is hitting .225 with an OPS of .650. If he’s going to play a defensive centerfield like this, he better at least be able to hit. The fact of the matter is, the bat won’t play at the MLB level. He’s striking out over 31% of the time at the big league level. It’s never going to translate.
All I know is when the Red Sox open the 2023 MLB Season, Jarren Duran can’t be on the team. Trade him, cut him, slap him in the face; I do not care. Management has already pushed this fan base towards an eventual riot. If Duran is on the team for another second, I can’t imagine what’s coming next. He can’t play. End of blog.
