Hunter Renfrow: Must Have In Fantasy With Josh McDaniels Gone
Hunter Renfrow was hated by Josh McDaniels, you cannot tell me otherwise.
There’s no reason a top 10 slot receiver should regress that much from one season to the next and regress even more after that. After the 2021 season, defensive backs and defenses altogether were basically saying, “That white boy cold,” when talking about Hunter Renfrow.
Renfrow is still the same player with the same elite footwork. His coach just hated him, for whatever reason–it was probably Josh McDaniels’ ego to be honest. But, now Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler were fired. Gonezo. You can almost guarantee that Hunter Renfrow’s production is going to skyrocket with McDaniels gone.
Now, usually, I hate the “snap count and targets” community of fantasy football. They’re all a bunch of nerds and people that don’t watch football. Much like PFF, which is usually where they get all of their info. However, they are slightly right on this one.
Renfrow played less than 50 percent of snaps in five out of eight games this season and hasn’t played more than 66 percent of snaps the entire season. It’s hard for a slot receiver to have any type of fantasy football production if he’s not on the field.
He also hasn’t ever got more than four targets in a game this year. To compare, in 2021, Hunter Renfrow was WR11 overall in PPR. It’s been downhill for him since McDaniels got the job.
With McDaniels gone, along with the offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, expect the QB Coach (now play-caller for the offense) Bo Hardegree to be fresh with the playcalling and utilize Hunter Renfrow efficiently.
He’s rostered in 57 percent of leagues on Sleeper. He should be around there for ESPN and Yahoo Leagues. If he goes off this week, don’t say I didn’t tell you. Take a pre-emptive strike and get him on your team now.
